The Organizing Blog
Welcome to The Organizing Blog! You can connect with me through my mini-journal about organizing. It...
- lets you know whenever any new Web pages appear on The Organizing Coach, telling you about a new product, idea, or resource
- keeps you up-to-date with other postings or news about The Organizing coach (like new eCourses, products, and eBooks!)
- highlights my favorite (pre-existing) pages that may have become hidden gems. I don't want you to miss anything!
- shares motivation, affirmations and inspiration for your organizing journey
- lets you share my personal experiences, a-ha moments, and food for thought
- lets you know when I send out the Let's OrganizeTogether e-zine (in case you don't like to give your e-mail address, or if your ISP tends to over-filter causing you to miss an issue).
To subscribe to my Organizing blog (no e-mail necessary), right-click on the orange RSS button (see bottom buttons to the left) and then paste the URL into your RSS reader. Or click on the My Yahoo! button or My MSN or Add To Google button if you keep a personalized home page there.

Permalink -- click for full blog post7 Ways to use your Government Rebate Wisely
The US Government is "giving" between $300 to $1200 to individuals and families to jump-start the economy in the near future. In my opinion, this is the last thing we need! Look around your home. Do you really need more things taking over your life? I know buying something new may make you feel better or even excited, but it will be short lived and only contribute to more of a clutter issue you may already have, not to mention the materialistic nightmare we are caught in.
Even if you don't have a clutter issue, I suggest using your rebate check (and your 2007 tax refund for that matter) in the following ways that will benefit you and our economy in more wise ways, creating a longer term benefit for all!
- Commit to reducing your debt and put the money towards paying it off.
- Take a class to benefit your life: financial freedom, getting organized, reducing stress, eating healthy, plus more!
- Donate your money to a charity with similar values as you.
- Invest your rebate check by starting a home-business to create an unlimited income source and freedom to live your passion.
- Place the money in a savings account with a specific purpose: education, contingency, charity, dream house, etc.
- If it is burning a hole in your pocket, consider spending it on items that will help make your home more green and organized. (ie: water saving shower heads, locally grown or made items, shredder, coaching sessions for organizing guidance)
- Take a day off of work and spend time getting organized at home. The rebate check could "pay" you for your time.
If none of those spoke to you, please take time to think about how you can turn this into a great long term gift without creating more stuff in your life.
